Camp Shelby Memorial

Biloxi, Mississippi, was the scene of The Fighting 69th Infantry Division Association's 44th Annual Reunion in September 1991. It was also the objective of a "March to the Sea" from Camp Shelby by "Bolte's Bitching Bivouacking Bastards" in one of many excursions into DeSoto National Forest during their intensive training to take part in WWII.

On September 20, 1991, during the 69th's 44th Annual Reunion, about 700 attendees gathered at Camp Shelby to dedicate this marker as a memorial to the men of the 69th who lost their lives in WWII and to commemorate the May 15, 1943, activation of the 69th Infantry Division.
