Dedication

These scenes are dedicated in memory of Walter Daniel Buie (February 5, 1900-June 21, 1986)-Colonel, United States Army and graduate of West Point. Colonel Buie commanded the 272nd Infantry Regiment, 69th Infantry Division, in its fight across Europe during WW II.

It was due to Colonel Buie's foresight in publishing "History of the 272 Infantry" in June 1945, that most of the following photos have been preserved, and members of the Battle Axe Regiment have a dramatic narrative and pictorial memory of the conflict in which they served.
